An Update

Okay so I’ve decided that central and northern Australia were never going to be the best places to update and run a blog from.

Here it’s more likely to see a wild Dingo run up and steal your butter (actually happened yesterday!) than to have signal or free/relatively cheap wifi.

And can I be frank with you?

I don’t want to be constantly obsessing over updating a blog about the fun I’m supposed to be having.. I want to actually HAVE the fun!

Which is what I’m really doing. I’m having so much freaking fun seeing and experiencing the things I’ve dreamt about doing for as long as I can remember.

I take at least 100 photos a day. Usually, if not always, more than that.

I’ve been on three long walks/hikes up and around and down some of Australia’s most famous landmarks – the base of Uluru, the rim of King’s Canyon and around Kata Tjuta.

I’ve seen the Olga’s, Devil’s Marbles, Mount Connor. As well as Simpson’s Gap, Stanley Chasm and perched on top of a rock on a mountain for the most amazing viewpoint of central Australia.

I’ve had a snake around my neck, walked in the path of a thorny devil lizard, seen a sand monitor lay in the middle of the road and stop our bus.

I’ve met some of the most amazing, funny and culturally different people who are all here for the same reasons I am. And we all get along, bumping along together between these spectacular sights and experiences. I’ve shared champagne with these people, celebrating the beautiful colours of the sunset behind Uluru.

I’ve not missed having wifi, getting constant notifications and communicating online instead of with the person in front of me. I’ve not missed the reality of the 9 – 5 grind, checking my emails and watching tv every night.

I’ve partied (quite exuberantly) with these new people I call friends and had so much fun I literally fell off a chair. And got it on camera.

Then, just for good measure, I fell off the back of the Alice Springs sign in our group photo.

Maybe I would have experienced most of these things even while concentrating on my blog, but I don’t think I would have fully been there to create lasting memories.

I’m all for updating all of you every once in a while!

But this is not my priority.

I left my world behind and came out into the world to live out my dreams!

I’m going to do exactly that.
